How Is Blue Tansy Good For Skin?

Acne, uneven skin tones, dry spots or rashes got you down? This oil has some serious super powers when it comes to nourishing the skin. You may have noticed Blue Tansy products on the shelves in your local cosmetic stores thanks to its striking blue color. The deep ocean blue color, captivating aroma, and active ingredient make it an impressive ingredient in skin care products.

Blue Tansy is a potent anti inflammatory that can immediately bring down redness and settle irritation. It has both anti bacterial and anti fungal properties that help to ward off pimple causing bacteria. Not only that, but it helps to regulate sebum production. Too much sebum can clog the pores and eventually become infected by bacteria, which makes blue tansy a multi tasking ingredient; both regulating sebum production and killing bacteria.

But watch out - not all blue tansy oils are created equal. You want to make sure you find steam distilled rather than solvent extracted, hexane free, organic and fair trade oil. If your skin is already irritated, you want to make sure you’re applying only the cleanest ingredients to your precious skin. Our organic Blue Tansy Essential Oil is steam distilled from the beautiful golden flowering tops of the sustainably wildcrafted Tanacetum annuum perennial plant that grow wild in the Moroccan countryside.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you might know that within all of my herbal formulations, I address both the physical body and emotional body. They are both equally important and as herbalists we understand that one cannot be healed without the other. Another reason why I love Blue Tansy so much is because it has a prominent effect on both the physical layer and the emotional layer. Emotionally and energetically, this essential oil soothes an over-worried mind and can help promote relaxation, especially if one is feeling impatient or particularly stressed. Often, troubled skin can cause feelings of tension, stress and worry, which can further skin irritation. This oil is similar the chamomile in the way it calms stress and promotes feelings of happiness. Not only does it help repair the skin, but it helps us feel happy in our skin.

HEALING THE SKIN FROM THE INSIDE OUT

  • YOUR DIET MATTERS! If you experience rashes, redness, or irritation on your skin, its important to consider what you’re eating. As a certified Nutritionist, I can tell you that your diet is one of the biggest factors in healthy skin. Clean, organic and natural products play a huge role, but your diet plays an even bigger one. Try an elimination diet from common food allergens such as dairy, eggs, bread, wheat, soy, pork, canola oil, chocolate and nuts. Remove these from your diet for a couple months and see how it effects your skin. In my practice I have seen clients clear up years of troubled skin simply by removing dairy & wheat from their diets.
  • YOUR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM NEEDS ATTENTION! Your lymphatic system is essentially the waste system for your skin and it needs to be moved manually since it does not have a pump of its own. You’ve been told a million times how important it is to exercise, and I’m here to tell you again. The good news - you don’t have to run for an hour or lift 80 pounds above your head, some simple inversion yoga postures will do the trick! Try putting your legs up the wall, headstands and some simple vinyasa flows to get your lymph moving. Besides movement, one of the best things you can do for your lymph is an infrared sauna. The infrared heats your skin to help you sweat and release toxins, which will reduce acne breakouts and lower toxic build up within the body.
  • YOUR LIVER NEEDS SUPPORT! The liver removes toxins and waste build up from the body in two steps called phase one and phase two. In phase one, the liver neutralizes toxic substances so they don’t damage the organ systems, and phase two the liver excretes it from the body via urine or stool. When the liver becomes overwhelmed in phase one due to an overload of toxins, phase two becomes backed up and toxins are recycled back into the bloodstream, forcing the body to eliminate toxins via the skin (A.K.A acne!). The livers phase two needs support! This means including herbs that open phase two in your daily regime is extremely important. This includes turmeric, lemon water, MSM powder, Oregon grape root, Aloe Vera, burdock root, dandelion root, milk thistle, red clover, spirulina, and lemon balm. Try including these by drinking them as teas, using alcohol free tinctures, capsules, drinking lemon water daily, drink vegan golden turmeric milk, and blend fresh aloe vera leaf into your water. You need to support your liver every single day - and it can be as simple as drinking a tall glass of lemon water or having a cup of lemon balm tea.
